Wet cleaning: A cleaning process that uses water and soap under a controlled environment to clean garments.
Some garments cannot be dry cleaned, and some stains just can not be removed by conventional dry cleaning methods. That is where wet cleaning is used to safely and effectively clean an item. We use the utmost care when wet cleaning. However there is still a risk of shrinkage and distortion of the garment. Paris will ask for your release consent before processing your garment using wet cleaning to make sure you are aware of the risks.Confused about the new garment labels:
"Professional Wet Clean", "Wash Cold / Dry Flat"
"Do Not Hang / Do Not Tumble Dry", "Hand Wash / Dry Flat"?
Let Paris sort it out for you!
Many garments with these labels can and should be safely Professionally Wet Cleaned to protect your investment, save you time and aggravation, and preserve your favorite clothing for future enjoyment.
You may trust your old blue jeans and bath towels to the gels, sticks, liquid detergents, powders, and home remedies, but what about a fine silk and linen blend, rayon wool or polyester blend? With make-up, deodorant, food, grease, coffee, or red wine stains, you could set the stain permanently and ruin an expensive or favorite garment. (Even if you do, bring it to Paris – our special Paris 13 process can sometimes work wonders.)
Responding to the increased demand for professional wet cleaning, Paris has remodeled and expanded our Professional Wet Cleaning area, doubling its size and installing new machines. Our increased capacity means your fine garments are cleaned even better than before.
Professional Wet Cleaning has been our business for over a hundred years. Paris has a century of experience – see our before and after with just a few examples – from a 1915 wedding gown to a gown stored for 30 years with a stain covering nearly half of the dress. The successful removal of these stains is not the result of a magic powder or a setting on a machine, but knowledge, experience, and a secret process called Paris 13. The ability to remove both day-to-day and difficult stains is what makes Paris Springfield’s Professional Wet Cleaning choice - and your choice for cleaning your valuable possessions.
The next time you begin to wash an item you really like, pause and call Paris at 217-522-3313 or drop it off at a Paris Professional Wet Cleaners location.
With a century of experience in wet and dry cleaning and a dedication to quality and hands-on attention to detail, Paris helps you continue to enjoy your favorite clothing and household linens!
Dry Cleaning: A cleaning process for clothing and textiles using a solvent rather than water.
Most dry cleaners use a Perchloroethylene, or Perc solvent. Perc is a harsh solvent that leaves a distinct odor to clothes and will dissolve bead work and some trim. To learn more about the dangers of Perc please visit our Green page. Paris Cleaners is the ONLY dry cleaner in Springfield to use Exxon-Mobil's DF-2000. DF-2000 is a gentler hydrocarbon solvent.- What does that mean for you?
- Delicate garments with beads and trim are cleaned safely.
- Clothes have virtually no odor.
- Clothes can be brought into your home and worn immediately, with no threat to you and your family from "out-gassing".
Paris 9-Step Inspection
- Every garment cleaned by Paris goes through these nine steps of careful inspection.
- We identify and discuss any spots with you at the counter when you bring in your items;
- At the mark-in, by a trained professional;
- By Paris management, before cleaning;
- By Paris management, after cleaning;
- Right before the garments are pressed;
- By Paris management before assembly line;
- At the assembly line;
- By Paris management, right before bagging; and
- Before the garment is placed on the line for you to pick up.
Paris - Expert Pre-Treating
The clear difference between Paris and discount cleaners is in our pre-treating. Our expert stain remover, Sherry, has over 22 years’ experience in stain removal. Discount cleaners usually don't have an expertly-trained stain remover on staff. Paris spots garments prior to and immediately after cleaning. Please tell the counter manager about all stains you know about, but know that Paris will go through our nine steps of inspection so even the most remote stains will be identified and removed.

Household Items That Need Regular Cleaning
Remember if you have had a cold or flu lately, your pillow and comforter still do!Comforters, bedspreads, non-electric blankets, pillow shams, duvets and dust ruffles are all processed according to the manufacturer’s care label. We can save you a trip to the laundromat by washing your large items that will not fit into your home machines. Pillow shams, duvets and dust ruffles are pressed to give your bed that clean, crisp feel and look. Sorry, we cannot process electric blankets. These household items usually require a 3-5 day turnaround. Down and feather bed pillows are deodorized, sanitized and the ticking (outside covering) replaced. We can add extra feathers to your pillow for a minimal charge. Your pillows will look and feel brand new after processing! Pillow cleaning takes 3-7 days.
Draperies
Paris will follow the manufacturer’s recommendation for processing draperies. Draperies are cleaned, pressed and pleated on an Adjust-A-Drape machine. Drapery is the most difficult household item to process because of the potential for shrinkage and sun damage. For most drapery, 1-10% shrinkage is common. Our drapery can correct most, but not all, shrinkage. The fibers of drapes hung in full sunlight can become weak and brittle. This condition is not always apparent before processing. In processing, these fibers break and drapes appear to have been "shredded". Yellow streaks on drapes can be caused by smoke, soot or light. These streaks are found along the folds of the drapes and become more visible after processing. Unfortunately, these streaks cannot be removed by conventional dry cleaning. In some cases we recommend a wet cleaning process. Due to the potential for these problems, we will ask for your release before cleaning drapery. We will do everything possible to get your drapes looking their best. Draperies are ready in 5-10 days.Table Linens
Great Grandma's linen tablecloth has seen a lot of holidays, and Paris will make sure it can be there for future generations. All tablecloths are soaked, washed and stains removed by hand. After a crisp press, it will be ready for your table. Tablecloths are ready in 5-10 days.Paris Shirt Laundry
